Fabre can score a Poule double
ANDRE FABRE can work his magic and make it an eighth victory in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains (French 2,000 Guineas) with ALSON (2.50).
Fabre, surprisingly, is not the most successful trainer in the colts’ Classic, that accolade goes to Robert Denman with 11 victories, but nobody will dispute that he is a genius.
Alson ran with credit last season, notably chasing Victor Ludorum at Longchamp, but that was when trained by JeanPierre Carvalho.
After Alson won a two-horse race at Longchamp last season under Frankie Dettori, Fabre said: “I know there were only two runners, but to win a Group One still counts, it’s still difficult.
“He’s got a good future, perhaps he could come back here for the Poule d’Essai des Poulains next year.”
Dettori cannot take the ride as travelling to France is forbidden. Fabre will also be represented by Victor Ludorum and Arapaho.
Victor Ludorum had his bubble burst by The Summit at
Longchamp, while Arapho looks the improver in the race, judged on his victory over Mageva at Longchamp 18 days ago.
He will appreciate today’s extra furlong and is the one for the forecast.
Fabre can again demonstrate why he has been champion trainer in France on 24 occasions by taking the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (French 1,000 Guineas) with TROPBEAU (3.25).
She made an impressive return at Longchamp last month where Dream And Do was second and Tickle Me Green third, having previously been denied a clear run when third behind Millisle in the Cheveley Park at Newmarket last year.
