SILKMEN IN DROP FEAR

- By David Anderson

MACCLESFIELD face relegation from the Football League after being charged again for failing to pay their players in March.

The Silkmen have already been docked 11 points for failing to fulfil fixtures against Crewe and Plymouth this season and for the non-payment of players.

Macclesfield are just three points above bottom club Stevenage after the League Two season was abandoned and could replace them at the foot of the table if they are found guilty by an Independent Disciplinary Commission.

The Commission have the power to activate a two-point suspension hanging over the club from their last punishment as well as hitting them with a further deduction.

Macclesfield claim they are “deeply surprised” by the latest misconduct charges from the EFL and say they will be appealing “vehemently”.
