UNDERSTANDING EACH OTHER IS WHAT MATTERS MOST
A POLICE officer chats to two young demonstrators at a Black Lives Matter march, an image that has been viewed more than 300,000 times on Twitter.
Plymouth-based PC Glen Baird sat down with 18-year-old Naomi KiluaMasamba and her brother Eli Hansford, 16.
Naomi wrote: “To everyone complaining about the peaceful protest outside the police station, here is a photo of me and a policeman moments before we arrived there, he was so kind and supportive of everything we were doing and what we stood for.”
Glen said: “My kids came across a post online of me at the BlackLivesMatterUK protest and sent it to me saying ‘well done Dad’.
“If I’ve managed to persuade one person police are here to protect them, job done.”
Naomi said people had branded marchers as thugs so she posted the photo to “shut them up”.
Glen said: “They were very well behaved and I wanted to tell them I support their message.”
