You get what you pay for so cough up more in tax

-

WHEN I left school in 1965 the basic rate of income tax was 33.3 per cent in the pound. Then Mrs Thatcher’s government decided to reduce this to 20 per cent.

A one penny increase is not going to solve the problems of our underfunded police,Armed Forces, NHS and emergency services (“Extra penny on tax to fix care crisis”, June 3).

If we are to have good services they have to be paid for.The public need to decide what they are prepared to pay to have them.
