Klopp still plans a big title parade

- By David Anderson

JURGEN KLOPP says nobody will stop Liverpool holding an open-top bus parade for winning the Premier League title – even if they are seen as “crazy” by staging it next season.

Liverpool are on the brink of ending their 30-year title wait but will have to celebrate in an empty stadium and without their fans.

With Government guidelines barring large gatherings, there can be no parade this season.

But Klopp is determined for the

trophy to be shown off around Merseyside eventually, even if the champions-elect have to bide their time before doing so. The Reds boss said: “That you can’t celebrate in the way you’ve always dreamed of, that’s not nice. It’s not that my ideal is to celebrate alone in the stadium, then just drive home. “When someone has found a solution to this problem, that day will eventually

come. Then we have the right to celebrate what we want.

“If this is the 12th or 13th matchday of next season and we want to celebrate it, who’s going to stop it?

“We still have the trophy and we can drive it around town and stand on the bus. If other people think we are completely crazy, I honestly don’t care.

“It’s different, but different is sometimes absolutely OK.”

Klopp says Liverpool cannot splash out £50million-£60m on a player after asking the current squad to take wage cuts. They shelved their interest in RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner, who is set to join Chelsea for £54m.

Klopp said: “At the moment, all clubs are losing money.

“Without spectators, we have to pay back season tickets and probably sell none next year.

“Discussing with the players things like salary waivers and on the other hand buying a player for £50m-60m, we have to explain.”

Klopp says the financial outlook will remain bleak, even when the Premier League resumes on June 17.
