Shake-up of mandarins is long overdue
IN terminating the role of Britain’s top civil servant Sir Mark Sedwill (“Boris takes axe to Civil Service”, June 29), our Prime Minister is bringing sweeping changes to take the country forward. He should now look at the police.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick seems to have fallen well short in the requirement to tackle violence on our streets (“Met police chief:We have not gone soft”, June 29).
Her less than dynamic approach has never worked.Time for her to consider her position and make way for a new broom who is not afraid to tackle these issues head on.
We need confidence in our police and they need support and confidence in their leader.
