DO WE LISTEN TO OUR HEARTS RATHER THAN OUR HEADS?

Yes

THE best piece of advice I ever got was to trust your gut instinct and it has never let me down (“Gut instinct guides our major decisions”, June 29).

If something doesn’t feel right my “sixth sense” always tingles to sound the alarm.

It has seen me right down the years, from dodgy ex-boyfriends to knowing when someone is lying to me.

It never fails. If I could develop it and market it I would be a billionaire.

It’s like my own moral compass. I wish more people had one. I trust it with my life.

IT might sound a bit nerdy but whenever I have a big decision to make I sit down with a piece of paper and a pen and write a list of pros and cons.

Seeing my options written down helps me think more clearly and more often than not I come to the right decision. It takes a bit longer but so what?

Also if I’m considering a major purchase, such as a new TV or smartphone, I always wait a month to see if I really want it to make sure it’s not an impulse buy. It usually is and I’ve saved myself a fortune.
