AINSLEY MAITLAND-NILES says Arsenal’s players gave the perfect response to critics who question the squad’s character.

The Gunners full-back, below, believes their last-gasp FA Cup quarter-final winner against Sheffield United on Sunday showed the team do have what it takes to battle out victories.

And he insisted frustrated fans must keep the faith as Mikel Arteta makes changes at the club.

MaitlandNiles said: “We haven’t had the best of results away and a lot has been said about our character.

“So to come back and get that late goal and the win against a team who have done well this season shows what we’re about.

“The tough times we’re in show we’ve got the character to come back and keep fighting.”

Arsenal face Manchester City in the semi-finals on July 18.
