- APPOINTMENTS TREATMENTS

You may want an appointment desperately but so do thousands of others. When salons and clinics reopened in Europe they saw a 4500 per cent rise in demand, so it’s worth thinking ahead to try and secure a booking.

An exclusive survey at our clinic shows 90 per cent of all women plan to have a treatment as soon as clinics open, with over half wanting wrinkle smoothing jabs and dermal fillers.

Walk-in appointments will be a no-no and some aesthetic clinics will be giving priority to people who had procedures done pre-lockdown for follow-up treatments. Salons will also give priority to regular clients and people who had appointments cancelled due to the outbreak.

Some treatments that take longer may be limited to minimise your time in the treatment chair. You may also be offered a virtual consultation first. Some clinics are putting hands-on facials on hold until later this month. And most cosmetic surgery operations, unless deemed an emergency, won’t take place until late summer or early autumn.

Before your appointment, it may be wise to offer to prepay so that no cash needs to be exchanged. Also, be prepared to accept an appointment outside of usual operating hours. Due to the safety measures, most clinics and salons are extending their opening hours and because appointments are taking longer, there will be fewer booking slots.

BITES and stings bugging you? Keep Solution for Bites, £8.99 (scienceofskin.com) handy. With cooling aloe vera and calming green tea extract, the quick-dry roller ball formula helps to repair the skin, soothe irritation and take the sting out of stings.

Don’t expect any physical greetings or handshakes. There will be no gossiping in reception areas or having a treatment at the same time as your friend. If you must bring someone with you they will be asked to wait outside. Salons and clinics will limit the number of clients and patients allowed at any one time.

Social distancing measures remain in place so don’t expect face-to-face hair consultations. Your stylist will stand behind you looking in the mirror. If you are planning to have any type of facial aesthetic treatment, avoid wearing make-up as some clinics will refuse to carry out treatment if you arrive with a full face on. Upon arrival you’ll be asked to fill in a wellness questionnaire to ensure you are healthy, and have been in 14 days prior to your appointment.

If you’ve had contact with someone with Covid-19 symptoms you should cancel and rebook. Your temperature
