Time called after just three days
SEVERAL pubs have closed three days after reopening due to customers testing positive for coronavirus since visiting.
Staff were yesterday contacting other customers from the weekend to warn them they may need to get tested or self-isolate.
In one town, two bars and a restaurant have shut after one man was diagnosed.
None of the infected customers at any of the pubs had symptoms or were diagnosed as positive when they visited.
In Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset, the Lighthouse Kitchen and Carvery and the Vape Escape bar have closed for deep-cleans after a customer who went to both on Saturday tested positive.
Staff have been contacting customers who left their phone numbers at the weekend under new opening rules – and workers are being tested for the disease.
Vape Escape said none of its staff had Covid-19, while the pub was still waiting for some results last night.
An Indian takeaway, Saagar, in the same seaside resort, said it would be shut until Friday for a precautionary deep clean because one of its drivers went to the Lighthouse.
Lighthouse manager Jess Green said: “We completed a full clean and so we could actually reopen.
“But we have proactively taken the decision to close and we have received lots of positive feedback from the local community.”
The Fox and Hounds in Batley, West Yorks, also closed after a customer was diagnosed with Covid-19.
And the Village Home Pub in Alverstoke, Hants, shut when a person in a barmaid’s “family bubble” tested positive. All are expected to reopen soon.
