Victoria actress Jenna breaks up with her Prince
JENNA Coleman and her beau from TV hit Victoria have broken up – failing to emulate the long love match of the royal pair they play.
The actress, 34, and Tom Hughes, 35, fell in love on set while playing Victoria and Albert in the Sunday night favourite.
But Jenna is now believed to have moved out of the London home they shared.
It is not thought a third party was involved, the relationship simply ran its course after four years.
Tom was spotted apparently helping Jenna move her belongings from their townhouse.
She is said to have been offered a number of new roles – both here and in the US – and is keen to focus on her career.
Chemistry
The Doctor Who star first met Tom on the set of jazz series Dancing On The Edge back in 2013.
At the time, she was dating Bodyguard hunk Richard Madden, 34, and Tom was going out with Guardians Of The Galaxy actress Ophelia Lovibond, also 34.
But three years later they fell for each other as they worked on lavish 19th-century drama Victoria, brought in by ITV bosses to replace Downton Abbey.
At its peak, Victoria – expected to return for a fourth series – was watched by more than seven million viewers.
The pair’s on-screen chemistry soon fuelled speculation that they were growing close off set and six months later they went public. The show’s writer Daisy Goodwin even compared them to Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, one of the most famous couples in the history of showbusiness.
Blackpool-born Jenna, who broke into TV when she landed a part in Emmerdale, has also worked on
Waterloo Road and played Clara Oswald – companion to Matt Smith in Doctor Who – from 2013 to 2015.
Jenna had been reluctant to discuss the relationship with Tom. She also once said she wanted to wait before starting a family.
The actress explained: “I want to take my time. There’s a whole lot more of the world for me to see first. I’d love to have children one day.” The stars’ agents were not available for comment on the matter yesterday.
Queen Victoria and Prince Albert – her cousin – were married for 21 years, until his death aged just 42 in 1861.
