ENGLAND boss Gareth Southgate must be rubbing his hands with glee. I cannot recall a time when England had such a rich pool of young talent (“It’s amazing from Mason”, July 10).

Young Mason Greenwood is scoring for fun at Manchester United, Jadon Sancho has been ripping the Bundesliga to shreds with Borussia Dortmund and Trent Alexander-Arnold has just strolled to the title with Liverpool.

We’ve had a lot of false dawns but next year could be our year.

OH dear, a few English players enjoy a good run of form and the giddy button is pressed.

While it’s great to see an England team full of young lads, they are just rookies so let’s allow them to grow up a bit before overloading them with expectations.

Remember our

“Golden Generation”, David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry, Paul Scholes, Michael Owen and Wayne Rooney? Well they won nothing with England despite all their hype. So let’s keep a lid on it shall we?
