Body is found in hunt for Glee star
A BODY has been found in the search for Glee star Naya Rivera, who vanished last week while boating with her young son.
The 33-year-old actress had rented a pontoon boat with Josey, four, on California’s Lake Piru, north-west of Los Angeles, last Wednesday.
He was discovered alone and asleep in the vessel, which was spotted drifting in the water. He told police his mum “jumped into the water but didn’t come back up.”
The little boy was wearing a life jacket, and another one was found in the boat along with Naya’s handbag and ID. The discovery of the body was announced on social media yesterday by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
They wrote: “A body has been found at Lake Piru this morning. The recovery is in progress.”
They did not speculate on the identity of the deceased and said they would be holding a press conference later.
Naya, who played cheerleader Santana Lopez in the high-school show, was divorced from Josey’s dad, actor Ryan Dorsey, 36. He was pictured taking part in the search for her this week.
Authorities have previously said Josey is “in good health”.
The day before his mum went missing, she shared a picture of them together, captioning it: “Just the two of us.” Her disappearance is the latest in a string of tragedies to have hit the show, which ended in 2015.
In 2013 Cory Monteith died after an accidental drug overdose.
The same year, Naya’s ex-boyfriend and co-star Mark Salling was convicted for possession of child pornography. He killed himself in 2018.
