Kate hides anguish at party for her boy
SELFLESS Kate Garraway hid her anguish over her husband’s Covid-19 fight for life as she and celebrity pals held a birthday bash for her 11-year-old son.
The Good Morning Britain presenter, 53, appeared in last year’s I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!
So her friends created a jungle camp-themed party for her son Billy as his father Derek Draper battles coronavirus in hospital.
Singer Myleene Klass, 42, and a surprise arrival – fellow 2019 jungle campmate DJ Roman Kemp – helped set up Billy’s birthday garden party after Kate said she “didn’t want to let him down”.
Kate said on Instagram: “I was super nervous about Bill’s birthday this year – we usually have a family do with grandparents and a few of his friends but obviously this is not possible.
“Derek is so brilliant at this, organising treasure hunts and Boy’s Own adventures, so mentioned to Myleene Klass...did she know anyone with a tent we could borrow in case it was wet?
“Little did I know what I was unleashing! She is in her element!”
Kate said Myleene arrived on Saturday morning with baby son Apollo to set up “the most amazing jungle camp ever”.
She said: “When Billy woke up he could not believe his eyes.
Kate shared a video of Roman, 27, having a water fight with Billy, his sister Darcey, 14, and Myleene’s daughters Ava, 12, and Hero, nine.
Kate said she felt “so emotional” but knew Derek would be “so proud and pleased”.
TV lawyer Judge [Robert] Rinder did his bit too, scrambling to find a plumber after Kate’s family awoke to no water.
Former political lobbyist Derek, 52, had been in a medically induced coma since March but has now been able to open his eyes.
