Demand for rentals on the rise
THERE were about six potential tenants for each home available to rent across the nation in June, a report estimates.
Despite there being 5 per cent fewer applicants compared with last year, the decreased number of homes available meant there were 6.3 renters for each place available, Hamptons International found.
London saw only 3.9 applicants searching, down from 4.9 in June 2019 while in the north there were 12.1 applicants.
Aneisha Beveridge, of Hamptons International, said: “The effect of lockdown has resulted in fewer international tenants, particularly students, as well as an increase in the number of London tenants leaving the capital.
“However the flexibility renting offers has boosted demand in the Midlands and North.”
