3,000 NEW PLACES FOR SPECIAL NEEDS PUPILS
THOUSANDS of new school places are to be created for children with special educational needs and disabilities.
They form part of the Government’s plans to build 35 new special free schools.
Expected to be ready from September 2022, they will provide tailored support and specialist equipment such as sensory
£7.1billion over the period. The Prime Minister said: “Every child deserves a superb education regardless of which school they attend or where they happen to grow up.
“That is why we are providing additional funding for every school, with those historically underfunded receiving the greatest increase.”
The announcement comes as appliances and communication aids. Education Secretary Gavin Williamson has approved 33 school trusts to open and run 37 new schools for 3,000 students.
Of these, 35 will teach pupils with complex needs such as autism, severe learning difficulties or mental health conditions, the Department for Education said.
