Big Jack hits the post! Mail tribute to legend
JACK Charlton will be honoured with a tribute postmark to be applied to mail sent in both England and Ireland.
The former England and Leeds United defender, who won a World Cup winner’s medal in 1966, died 10 days ago, aged 85.
After his playing days “Big Jack” went on to manage the Republic of Ireland, taking them to their first major tournament finals in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Royal Mail and the Irish service An Post have agreed to collaborate for the first time to create a postmark in commemoration of the much-loved player.

“He gave our nation many of our happiest and proudest moments.
“He was the greatest example of a culture shared across these islands – that a proud Leeds player, a tall English football hero could become an Irish legend.”
After Jack’s death, Irish Taoiseach Micheal Martin said: “He was an iconic figure on and off the pitch.”
