RUPERT AND THE DRAGON FLY

Off streaks the fly he meant to trap, And Rupert’s stick breaks with a snap.

Rupert brings the net down over the bonnet, so hard that the handle snaps in half. But, quick as he is, the fly is still quicker. It flicks out of the way and streaks away. Granny Goat, who has been covering her eyes, now gazes in dismay. “Oh dear, my best bonnet!” she moans. “I suppose you meant well, Rupert. You did save it from that smoking fly, and perhaps I can make the flowers stand up again!”

“That’s my best bonnet!” Granny moans, And when she picks it up, she groans.
