POPE NEARLY INFALLIBLE

-

SEAN DYCHE says Nick Pope deserves to win the Premier League Golden Glove award for his heroics this season. Burnley’s Pope moved one clear of Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson at the top of the clean sheets’ chart by keeping his 15th of the season in Saturday’s 2-0 win against Norwich, who had two players sent off.

Pope has already helped Burnley to their highest total of clean sheets in the top flight since 1955. And he has a chance to match the 16 the

Clarets managed that year when they face Brighton at home in their final game of the season on Sunday.

Clarets boss Dyche said: “He’s got to have a chance. He deserves it. He’s been terrific, but he has a strong group in front of him. I know he respects that and all the players for what they give him from a defensive side. And then we keep managing to find moments and managing to win games.”

Victory kept Burnley’s European dreams alive.
