Amber: ‘Very jealous Depp accused me of sleeping with nine Hollywood stars’

- By David Pilditch

AMBER Heard told yesterday how Johnny Depp threatened to kill her, “carve her face up” and accused her of having affairs with nine Hollywood stars.

The actress appeared close to tears on occasions at the High Court in London to outline her alleged torment and suffering at the hands of one of Hollywood’s most powerful figures.

The pair had a tempestuous fiveyear relationship.

She told how Mr Depp, 57, turned into “a monster” in a series of alcohol and drug-fuelled rages which left her in fear for her life.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star threatened to “carve her face up so no one else would want her”, the court heard.

Giving evidence, she said: “He said to me time and time again, the only way out of this was death.”

She said he was “very jealous” and would obsess about who she had slept with and been out with before him. Ms Heard said: “He spoke possessively of me as ‘my woman’ and made comments that he wished he had found me before I had slept with anyone else, joking he would have locked me away at 14.”

Screaming

Miss Heard, 34, told how Mr Depp accused her of having an affair with Leonardo DiCaprio, 45, who he branded “pumpkin head”, one of a series of derogatory nicknames he gave to stars he considered a threat.

She said Mr Depp wrongly claimed he could prove she had slept with “each of my co-stars, movie after movie”, including English actor Eddie Redmayne, 38, Kevin Costner, 65, and Billy Bob Thornton, 64.

James Franco and Jim Sturgess, both 42, Channing Tatum, 40, and Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth, 30, were also named.

She said of Mr Depp: “He would taunt me especially when he was drunk or high, and had derogatory nicknames for every one of my male co-stars he considered a sexual threat. For example, Leonardo was ‘pumpkin head’, Channing Tatum was ‘potato head’ and ‘Jim Turd Sturgess’.” He also accused her of cheating on him with female costar Kelly Garner, 36, she said.

As Mr Depp looked on from the back of the court, Ms Heard, dressed in a cream blouse and dark pencil skirt, told how the actor left her with “significant injuries” after he “punched, slapped, kicked, headbutted and choked her” at least 14 times.

She told how he ripped out clumps of her hair, hurled missiles at her and wrestled her to the ground.

Ms Heard said: “Johnny attacked me a lot of times on many different occasions. Some incidents were so severe that I was afraid he was going to kill me, either intentionally or just by losing control and going too far.”

Once she was punched so hard by Mr Depp, who wears heavy metal rings on his fingers, that “it felt like my eye popped out”, she said.

Of another alleged attack she told the court: “He was pressing so hard on my neck I couldn’t breathe…I remember thinking he was going to kill me in that moment. He was screaming at me, over and over again, ‘you ruined my life, I hate you, I’m going to ******* kill you’.”

She added: “He would describe what he wanted to do to me if I left him or hurt him. For example, carv

ing my face up so no one else would want me.”

She said that with people “he didn’t like or was threatened by” Mr Depp would detail how he wanted to “have them tortured or how cheap and easy it would be to have someone knocked off”.

Attacks were alleged to have taken place during the couple’s honeymoon on the Eastern and Oriental Express, on a private jet and on the actor’s own 45-acre tropical island in the Bahamas.

Ms Heard said Mr Depp used his “charisma” to talk away the violent incidents, blaming them on “the monster” within him. She told the court: “He would speak about it as if it was another person or personality and not him doing all these things.”

Ms Heard said Mr Depp’s personal doctor kept her sedated throughout their relationship with a cocktail of medications.

The actress said Mr Depp’s loyal security guards used to spy on her and report back. Ms Heard told how she stopped wearing revealing dresses on the red carpet as the actor tried to dictate what she wore, saying “my girl is not gonna dress like a whore”. She said Mr Depp would call directors to complain about scenes she was being asked to appear in and she ended up missing out on roles. She said: “I had to justify to him why I was doing any movie and it was much worse if there was any kissing or a sex scene in it.”

Ms Heard is the star witness for The Sun newspaper, which is being sued for libel by Mr Depp over a 2018 article which labelled him a “wife beater”.

Mr Depp spent more than 20 hours giving evidence during the first week of the trial.

He denied ever hitting a woman and claims Ms Heard was a golddigger who married him “for success and fame”. The Edward Scissorhands star insisted he was the victim of violence and abuse during their relationship.

The case continues.
