Bake Off’s Candice splits from husband
GREAT British Bake Off winner Candice Brown has split from her husband after less than two years of marriage.
The 35-year-old – who only renewed her wedding vows with Liam Macauley in 2019 – separated earlier this year, it has emerged.
He has moved out of the pub Candice owns in Eversholt, Beds, and is back in nearby Ampthill where they lived previously. Candice tied the knot with the tree surgeon at a French chateau in September, 2018. Last year they invited the cameras to capture them renewing their vows in Thailand.
Candice told how Liam “supports everything I do” in the wake of her 2016 Bake Off triumph.
She said: “We were tested quite early on in our relationship, and he didn’t budge then. I wasn’t very well, and I struggled with some mental health issues.
“I know I’m very lucky. I adore him, he adores me, we’re best friends and always will be.”
Candice has been in a relationship with Liam since 2012 when they met in a bar.
She previously laughed off pictures of her kissing Bake Off presenter Paul Hollywood goodbye at the Pride of Britain awards, in 2017. She said afterwards: “No kisses or hugs hello or goodbye from now on – handshakes or waves only.”
Two days ago Candice posted a picture of herself at a restaurant launch, where she didn’t appear to be wearing her wedding ring.
Her agent said: “I can confirm that Candice and Liam separated earlier this year.
“As you’d imagine it’s a very private matter.”
