‘I’d never felt more lonely than I did on my wedding night’
AMBER Heard told the court of her wedding night agony after a furious row with Johnny Depp over his drug use.
The couple tied the knot in Los Angeles in February 2015 before later heading off for a celebration on Depp’s private Caribbean island.
She said: “We fought on our wedding night over his drug use.
“He had lost weight and he would disappear into the bathroom for long periods during the wedding. He was even more possessive than usual and he was just not making sense a lot of the time. I tried to smile through it and entertain our guests. But I had never felt more lonely in my life.”
However, Heard told how it felt like she was “dating a king” when their romance began.
She said Depp had “pursued” her when they filmed The Rum Diary in 2009 but she was already dating US photographer Tasya van Ree, 44.
But she said: “I liked him. I thought he was charismatic and interesting.After that shoot, I didn’t hear from him directly, although he would send me gifts. One time, he tried to have a guitar delivered to my house – I declined the delivery.”
The next time she saw Depp was in 2011 when they were promoting a film.
She said his publicist invited her to meet him and the director in a hotel room for a drink, but when she got there it was just Depp. She said: “Our romantic relationship then began.”
Later that year, Depp invited her to spend a weekend at the Trump SoHo in New York.
She said: “The first night we drank red wine together late into the night.When Johnny and I were together, it was like we were the only people in the world. He was engaging and intellectual and dark and funny.”
In early 2012, Heard went to meet Depp at his private island. “These were the best times in our relationship. When we were together, it was magic,” she told the court.
