BORIS Johnson has warned he “will not hesitate to put on the brakes” to control the spread of Covid-19 as lockdown rules were eased today.

Life will become a little more normal for millions but the Prime Minister stressed: “We must remain focused.”

Apart from local lockdown areas where restrictions on household gatherings have been extended, more activities are now allowed.

Theatres and concert venues can reopen with socially distanced audiences and weddings can have a sit-down lunch or dinner for up to 30.

Parents can take children to soft play areas and bowling, skating and close contact beauty treatments like facials, make-up and eyebrow threading will be allowed.

Gamblers can have a flutter

RESTAURANT chain Yo Sushi will axe 250 jobs as part of a major restructure following months of losses as a result of the coronavirus lockdown.

The firm revealed it had taken out a “company voluntary arrangement”, which will allow it to make a string of changes as it fights for survival.

It said the move will involve closing 19 of its 69 outlets in the UK, as well as nine other sites where it is not the tenant but is legally responsible for rent payments.

Yo Sushi’s announcement comes just days after high street chain River Island announced 350 job cuts and John Lewis said eight of its department stores would not reopen. their continued patience in following these vital rules put in place to tackle the spread of the disease. I know it hasn’t been easy.

“It is essential we all remain vigilant and I urge everyone in these areas to continue to follow the rules.”

Mr Argar added: “Wash your hands regularly, follow social distancing, get yourself a free test as soon as you get any symptoms and isolate if NHS Test and Trace tells you to.”
