AN OBESE woman has kicked her chocolate addiction and is 8st 4lb lighter – to fulfil her mum’s dying wish that she live a healthier life.

Just 11 months ago, Mara Vasic, was a size 26 and 20st 8lb after getting hooked on chocolate and fast food.

The 28-yearold from Adelaide, South Australia, said food was a comfort when her mother Kristina’s health declined even though

“this broke my mum’s heart”.

Kristina had long suffered the skin disease scleroderma and died in January of lung cancer.

“The night before she passed away, I had been in my best friend’s wedding as a bridesmaid. I had already lost some weight and was feeling fantastic.

“The last conversation we had she told me how proud she is of me and how beautiful I looked and to keep going.”

Mara had gastric sleeve surgery last year which was “the best decision I have made” – but has to have a high-protein, low-carb diet and exercise regime.

She added that when things are tough, “I think of Mum and making her proud”.
