Mikel and Edu put in control
ARSENAL managing director VinaiVinkatesham has revealed that Raul Sanllehi was removed as director of football to put the power of shaping the club’s future into the hands of two of ArseneWenger’s former players.
The ex-Barcelona executive has left the club in a shock move designed to place manager Mikel Arteta more at the heart of the club alongside technical director Edu, another former Gunner.
“We have, in Edu and Mikel, two individuals responsible for our technical plan,”Vinkatesham said.
“That is overseen by me and the board, but those two are the experts and have a very clear plan about how they want to rebalance our squad in the short, medium and long term. Our objectives are to be winning the biggest trophies in the game.”
