I’ll do whatever it takes to finish season says Brown

- By Julie Stott ❑

KEV BROWN has urged Super League players to do everything necessary to stop the season collapsing.

Brown is a member of the Salford team who were forced into self-isolation following Hull’s raft of positive coronavirus tests.

The two sides, who had clashed in their opening game after lockdown, had their fixtures postponed at the weekend.

He said: “If more fixtures are stopped and the sport is unable to fulfil its season then we all know how bad the implications might be.

“We need to get through this season. I, for one, will be willing to do whatever it takes to keep this sport really vibrant. If the game decides it has to be stricter in their restrictions then that’s what we have to do.

“It will be really tough but this is probably a good wake-up call and a warning for the sport in the long run.”

The half-back and 15 other “low-risk” Red Devils returned to training yesterday, but the rest of their teammates and all the Hull players, are still locked in quarantine this week. All Super League players are tested at the start of the week and the Salford and Hull teams will also have another test later this week – their third since the positive results were returned. ST HELENS winger Tommy Makinson is facing a lengthy ban for an inappropriate low grab on Castleford player Liam Watts in Sunday’s 10-0 victory.

The Match Review Panel have charged him with a Grade F offence, which carries an eight-week minimum ban if he is found guilty.
