THIS COULD BE MY LAST JOB

Klopp says he may walk away from football after Liverpool

JURGEN KLOPP says managing Liverpool could be his final job in football.

The Premier League-winning boss has revealed he will take a year off when his contract ends in 2024. And it could be his last job if he does not miss the game during his sabbatical.

Klopp, 53, signed a new contract in December but there are no plans for him to extend that further. He said: “I’ll take a year off and ask myself if I miss football.

“If I say, no, then that will be the end of coach Jurgen Klopp. If one day I am no longer a coach, there is one thing I will not miss – the

brutal tension immediately before the game.”

Klopp was at the start of a one-year sabbatical in October 2015 when Liverpool came calling.

The German had left Borussia Dortmund the previous summer and planned to take a year off.

However, he could not resist the lure of taking over at Anfield so he cut short his break.

It has become the perfect move for both the Reds and Klopp as he has led them to the Premier League title, Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup during his stint. Klopp is still planning for more trophies over the next four years as the Reds prepare in Austria for the start of the new Premier League season on September 12.

He said: “The whole club is hot for the new season, we want to be even better.

“We want to chase the opponents and the ball over the entire field, continue to be a super unpleasant team that is not fun to play.

“We’re not defending any titles – we want to get new ones, we’ve only just started winning.”

Liverpool defender Neco Williams, 19, has signed a five-year deal.

The Welshman has made 11 appearances since his senior debut in October 2019, playing six times in the top flight. The full-back said: “There is no better place to learn.”
