George Michael ex ‘arrested for car attacks’

- By Giles Sheldrick

THE boyfriend of the late George Michael has been pictured being arrested by police investigating a string of attacks on cars.

Uniformed police approached Fadi Fawaz, 47, on a street in east London, after vehicles including a Mercedes, a BMW and a Toyota were damaged.

And wearing a shell suit and flipflops, the once-stylish celebrity hairdresser was a shadow his former self.

It is the latest blow for Fawaz since he found troubled pop star Michael dead at the mansion they shared in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, on Christmas Day in 2016, aged 53.

He continued to live there until he was evicted in 2018, after being cut out of the star’s £98million fortune.

There were concerns for him after he posted bizarre tweets – including claims that Careless Whisper singer

Michael did not write his own songs. A year ago, there were fears Fawaz was sleeping rough when pictured in Covent Garden, central London.

A recent post on his Facebook page suggested he was homeless.

But his family denied he was in difficulty and his niece, Soumaya, said: “Maybe someone else hacked his Facebook or something, I don’t know.”

A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of a man damaging cars with a hammer on August 14. A man in his 40s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing criminal damage, possession of class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.

“He has been released under investigation. Inquiries are ongoing.”
