Travel: Great Continenta­l Railway Journeys, BBC2, 8pm

It is Wednesday night so we are back on the rails with former Conservati­ve cabinet minister Michael Portillo (left). Tonight he travels by train through Austria and the Czech Republic, beginning in the northern Austrian city of Linz, where Adolf Hitler lived as a young boy. From here, Portillo travels on to Prague Central Station, where he meets 87-year-old Zuzana Maresova, who, as a seven year-old girl climbed aboard a train to travel to safety in London with hundreds of other Jewish children. Eventually crossing the Czech border into Slovakia, Michael reaches his final destinatio­n, one of Europe’s youngest capital cities, Bratislava.

Documentar­y: Heathrow: Britain’s Busiest Airport, ITV, 8pm

These are uncertain and unpreceden­ted times for the aviation industry but this behind-the-scenes was filmed at a busier time and finds out how its infrastruc­ture helps staff process thousands of passengers arriving from 84 countries. Airside officer Ian (left) has a close shave out on the runway that might have viewers hiding their eyes at one stage. Meanwhile, veteran Border Force officers Glen and Amarjit hunt down smuggled cargo.

Fashion: Inside Missguided: Made In Manchester, C4, 10pm

Documentar­y going behind the scenes at one of Britain’s biggest online fashion retailer’s offices to explore what life is like for their young, femaledomi­nated workforce at their offices in the heart of Manchester. The dresses team race against time to design a new range and hit their sales target for party season. Meanwhile, the ethics team are also busy.

Soap: Emmerdale, ITV, 7pm

Paul cooks up a dinner date between Liv and Vinny, but Mandy is angry to learn that Liv has cancelled and Paul and Mandy (Reece Dinsdale and Lisa Riley, both above) end up sharing the dinner. Mandy crosses paths with Liv later and wants answers, only to be shocked by what she hears. It seems there is still plenty of mileage left in this complicate­d storyline over the coming days.

Film: Den Of Thieves, Film4, 9pm

An elite unit of the Los Angeles county sheriffs’ department investigat­es a series of perfectly executed heists, and uncovers a criminal gang composed of military veterans, whose strategic and combat experience make them an elusive foe. The investigat­ors set out to bring them to justice before they can carry out their biggest robbery yet – stealing £120million from the Federal Reserve Bank. Action-packed crime drama, starring Gerard Butler (right) and Jordan Bridges.
