Strictly Curse series is a new affair for the Beeb
THE Strictly curse has inspired a new reality TV show described as “dancing and dating colliding”.
In the BBC series, which has the working title Dance Crush, professional dancers will teach their pupils sexy moves while trying to persuade them to go on a hot date.
Those couples whose chemistry works off the dance floor will avoid elimination from the show.
The series comes after several relationship break-ups in real life as Strictly celebrities have fallen for their dance partners. They include comedian SeannWalsh and girlfriend Rebecca Humphries, who dumped him in 2018 when he was seen kissing married dance pro Katya Jones.
That year’s winners – TV documentary maker Stacey Dooley and dancer Kevin Clifton – also got together amid controversy.
Others to have found love include Countdown star Rachel Riley who split with her husband and now has a baby with her dance partner and second husband Pasha Kovalev.
Fiona Campbell, the controller of BBC Three which has commissioned Dance Crush, said a pilot had already been filmed and it “tested really positively” with viewers.
Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival yesterday, she did not say when viewers could expect to see the show.
But she did reveal that the digital channel is also working on an eightpart series involving boxer Amir Khan and his fashion and beauty influencer wife Faryal Makhdoom.
MeetThe Khans: Big In Bolton will follow the couple as they juggle a young family, their relationship and career pressures in the limelight.
