Dettori believes Love is all you need

- By David Yates

FRANKIE DETTORI reckons Love – and not his beloved history-seeker Enable – deserves to be favourite for the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on October 4.

Aidan O’Brien’s dual Classic winner is the undisputed market leader for Europe’s middle-distance championship after her Yorkshire Oaks triumph at week ago.

Ladbrokes offer 2-1 about Love, while 2017 and 2018 Arc heroine Enable, who will bid to become the first horse to land the iconic Longchamp test three times, is 11-4 – and Dettori (below) believes the bookies have got it right. “Love has now won the Guineas by four lengths, the Oaks by nine and the Yorkshire Oaks by five,” said Dettori. “She’s a three-yearold who gets all the allowances and overall you’d have to say she’s now entitled to her place at the top of the betting for the Arc.”

Dettori, required by COVID-19 regulations to self-isolate for 14 days after his return from France, expects to re-unite with Enable next Monday, five days before her Arc warm-up in the Group 3 September Stakes at Kempton Park on Saturday week.

“I’ve got to stay at my house until next Monday,” he told his Sporting Index blog, “but after that I’ll be straight into riding out.”

Cieren Fallon’s burgeoning career received another boost when last season’s champion apprentice, 21, was signed up as second jockey to Qatar Racing on a two-year deal.

“I am looking forward to what will hopefully be a very successful partnership – exciting times,” said Fallon.
