Relief as Archers returns to the studio
FANS of The Archers will be happy to hear that the radio soap has returned to the studio.
It signals the end of the much derided monologue experiment featuring characters’ musings, brought in after lockdown forced producers to bin scripts.
Now, Radio 4 has released a snapshot of some of the cast returning to the studio.
The agricultural soap’s editor Jeremy Howe said some of the monologue scenes were “pure gold”, but he said BBC bosses understand why some listeners want the return of the old format.
He said: “Just as many people have enjoyed hearing characters’ inner thoughts, we know others have longed for the programme they know and love.
“Dealing with the impact of coronavirus has been an enormous challenge but listeners have now started to hear certain storylines resume as well as dialogue.
“As we start recording
