Wood you credit it? Beach huts with £ 327,000 price difference
Seaside retreat... beach chalet at Mudeford, Dorset
THERE has always been a North- South divide when it comes to the property market but now the gap has extended to beach huts.
A place to escape to the exclusive sandy peninsula of Mudeford in Dorset has just come up for sale for £ 330,000.
At the same time another charming wooden cabin with stunning sea views of the Cumbrian coast sold after being listed for £ 3,000.
The chalet sits on a plot overlooking the Irish Sea just outside the village of Silecroft.
It would have commanded a six- figure sum had it been on the desirable South Coast.
Instead it was bought by an anonymous buyer for 110 times less than the Mudeford des res.
The strip of land in Mudeford in Christchurch Harbour is home to about 360 privately owned huts that have rocketed in value over the past 10 years.
The sandy spit is sought- after because of its isolated location where cars are banned. Hut number 216 comes with hot
water, a gas cooker and a fridge freezer run off solar panels on the roof. The blue structure can comfortably sleep four people and has wooden stairs leading to a mezzanine level.
The asking price of £ 330,000 is enough to buy a detached three- bed bungalow in Cumbria.
Andy Denison of Denisons Estate Agents of Christchurch, said: “This year we have seen a rise in beach hut prices of around 10 per cent from 2019. Why Mudeford Spit? It is a place to escape and offers a simple way of living.”
