Hollywood briefed for Gervais in his pants

- By James Desborough

RICKY Gervais is ready to change his mind about hosting a Hollywood awards show again – if he can do it trouserless.

The actor- comedian is considered by many as the best MC in the business, thanks to his presentations at the Golden Globes where he has mercilessly ripped apart A- list stars.

Gervais, 59, said: “I like the fact I could do it in my pants in my house.

“That is always better than putting on a suit.”

Nominated for an Emmy for his latest show After Life, he confirmed the third series of the Netflix hit is ready to go.

He explained: “I have had so much more time on my hands that I have finished writing the script six months early.”

And he said he is now in a position to progress with his next stand- up special, SuperNature.

Gervais said: “I will probably reference this complete change in humanity. SuperNature is about me not believing anything supernatural because I say nature is super enough.”

He also recently teased a revival of his character David Brent – 20 years after the BBC show

The Office first appeared.

Gervais last played branch manager Brent in his 2016 hit film Life On The Road, which he insisted was his farewell outing as the Wernham Hogg reality star.

The BAFTA awardwinner said: “David Brent at 40 was sad, but David Brent at nearly 60, it’s too tragic. Having said that, the Rolling Stones are still going. It’s amazing.

“I mean who would’ve thought that? When we were kids if you would have said, do you know Jagger is still going to be going when he’s 75?

“When I was a kid... 75! Nobody lives to 75.”

However, he said a Brent revival might be possible “if it was a one- off charity gig and it raised money”.
