Too much to bare, Claudia

-

CLAUDIA Winkleman is smart, hilarious, self- deprecating – and I can’t wait to get my hands on her new book, Quite. I must, however, take gentle issue with one of her pronouncements.

She maintains that as women age and our best bits descend around our wrinkly kneecaps there is one glorious area of eroticism we dare to bare. Our shoulders, she declares, remain enticing. We should endeavour to unveil lightly tanned shoulders plus clavicles at any and every opportunity.

It’s not that I disagree. It’s more that the fuller- bosomed female is denied the chance for shoulder flashing. It only really works if you can find a strapless bra sufficiently robust to hoist your twin peaks aloft.

Alas, said scaffolding tends to inch ever- downwards, leaving the bust somewhere around your midriff and the silhouette unattractive.

Sadly, the flaunting of sexy shoulders, desirable though it may be, is an option open only to the small and pert of boob.
