Graham’s grief at dog’s death

- By Mark Jefferies

CHAT show host Graham Norton has been nursing a secret heartache after the death of his beloved dog Madge.

She died after nearly a decade alongside him and Graham, 57, was with the vet when she was put down.

He said: “Madge is no more. I didn’t announce it.

It’s always a bit weird people posting things about dead dogs.

“I know she’s gone and my friends know she’s gone. She left us at Christmas. It wasn’t sudden but it wasn’t a terrible long lingering thing. We held a wake. It was really upsetting. She was very old, at least 16.

“Nobody knew for sure because she was a rescue dog.”

The Graham Norton Show returns to BBC One on October 2. His novel Home Stretch is published October 1.
