Third of drivers name their car... and Daisy’s most popular choice

DAISY is the most popular name given to cars, a survey has revealed.

One in three drivers likes to add a bit of character to their motor, with seven per cent choosing the floral moniker.

Baby came second ( 5 per cent) with Ruby and Neville in joint third ( 4 per cent).

Bryn Brooker, of Nextbase, which quizzed 2,000 motorists, said: “The research highlights just how much of a carloving nation we are.

“Cars don’t just get us from A to B – many people have a strong bond with their vehicle, wanting to keep it safe and even treating it as an extension of the family.”

Other names in the top 10 include Bernard, Harry and Betsy. Meanwhile, some call their wheels Yoda, Darth or even Scooby. The survey by the dashcam producer also found more than one in 10 motorists thought of their car as a pal, while a fifth said they missed it while on holiday.

Popular choice... Yoda vehicle when travelling as a passenger in another car and almost a quarter of drivers said they would not trust anyone else to drive their car. Nearly 60 per cent of motorists preferred to be on their own when driving, with more than four in 10 saying it gave them some time to themselves.
