Don’t like free speech? Try living where it is banned

WHAT a massive indictment of the world in which we live whereby in Thailand residents can face long prison sentences for criticising their monarchy (“Thais demand curbs on king’s power”, September 21).

In Britain we take freedom of speech as part of everyday life yet there are still many countries which do not allow this basic right. Howard Gardner,
