WILL CASH BE A THING OF THE PAST WITHIN A GENERATION?

-

THE only time I’ve used cash in the six months since lockdown is the same £ 1 coin I’ve had in my purse since March. And I only use that for the shopping trolley (“No 2p or £ 2 coins for next decade”, September 19).

For everything else, I use my bank card.

Thanks to internet banking I know exactly where my money’s going and for the first time in my life I feel like I’ve got a grip on my personal finances.

Cash is dead, or it soon will be. Paying by card is so convenient and I prefer it.

WHEN I was younger I was told that if you had a full tank of fuel and £ 100 in cash in your pocket then the world was your oyster.

You know where you are with cash. And how many times has the banking software crashed in the last 10 years, leaving people locked out of their accounts?

I never carry too much around but I always pay for as much as I can in cash. I withdraw a set amount at the start of the week and live on it. And because of that I’ve never had an overdraft. It works for me.
