Goals set by parents
MUMS and dads use football stats, road signs and shopping to boost their children’s academic skills. Of 1,000 parents quizzed, 78 per cent said such scenarios helped motivate their offspring to learn maths, spelling, reading and geography. The survey for Santander UK, which also involved 1,000 children aged six to 14, found they were twice as inspired by footballers than Sir Isaac Newton.
