Patel’s Priti comical response

EVERY time another precarious dinghy of illegal migrants ( 6,300 by this route so far this year, and counting) arrives in Dover, Priti Patel or one of her Home Office underlings pops up to insist action is already being taken to halt the flow.

And every time, I’m irresistibly reminded of that Iraqi information minister nicknamed “Comical Ali” as he insisted his boss Saddam was fully in control, at the same time as American troops were clearly visible pouring into Baghdad in the background.
