Billy was top of the pops when it came to talent
IT warms the heart when discerning people recognise greatness.
Such is the case with Leslie Richardson ( Letters, September 21)
when stating, correctly, that Billy Fury was Britain’s first rock ’ n’ roll star. I would add that he is also the best male singer in the history of stand- alone British pop performers.
His career was similar to that of Roy Orbison in that both men also wrote most of their chart material.
