Kneeling on pitch won’t tackle racism
LES FERDINAND talks sense when he says the message sent out by kneeling football players has been lost (“Ferdinand is riled by racism row”, September 22).
My 17- year- old granddaughter saw players kneeling down on Match Of The Day and I tried to explain.
She asked what it meant and why everyone wasn’t doing it and at that point I changed the subject, since I was no longer sure myself.
The bit that sticks in my throat is if someone decides not to kneel they are accused of not caring about black lives, which in most cases is totally untrue.
Kneeling on a pitch won’t change the mind of a racist, in fact it can be counterproductive.
