BP ‘ committed to climate goals’
THE sincerity of BP in meeting its net- zero emission commitments should not be questioned, a senior executive told the Scottish government.
Peter Mather, regional president for Europe at the oil giant, said the firm was committed to cutting its carbon footprint, transitioning into renewables and cutting oil and gas production. Addressing the environment, climate change and land reform committee at Holyrood, he said BP would continue extracting fossil fuels from the North Sea, although the amounts would steadily drop.
