Warning over virus may be exaggerated
LET’S see if the Government’s two chief scientific advisers, Chris Whitty and Patrick Vallance, are correct about their prediction of coming deaths due to coronavirus
(“Boris: Only a united front will halt virus”, September 22).
Helped by the equally pessimistic Matt Hancock they are doing a good job of exaggerating the whole need for lockdowns around the country with their dire forecasts.
Surely the best way to manage the virus would have been to carry on relying on herd immunity to win out, as with flu epidemics. To me there is something very suspicious about closing down half the planet for a virus that is nowhere near as deadly as influenza.
