Luke keeps Giants grounded
CASTLEFORD V HUDDERSFIELD
HUDDERSFIELD caretaker coach Luke Robinson has not allowed his players to wallow in their first win under him.
The Giants ended a five- match losing streak by accounting for Wakefield 29- 6 last week.
It was Robinson’s first match in charge following the departure of Simon Woolford the previous day and he has relished the extra preparation time this week.
“To say it was thrust on me would be an understatement,” he said. “I had an hour maximum to compose myself and gather my thoughts before the match. We played well last week but there were no party poppers and banners out – the players understood there’s a lot of improvement left in us.
“The video session the day after the game emphasised that.
“Without being disrespectful, we did some things that if we had done against somebody like St Helens, then we could have come unstuck.
“The players as a group and me as a coach have been adamant that, yes it was a step in the right direction, but to get where we need to be and expect to be we’ve still got a lot of work to do.”
