Bored Barney comeback bid
PEOPLE’S champion Raymond van Barneveld is planning a shock comeback – 12 months after he retired.
The five- time world champion will try to win back his Tour card at the Professional Darts Corporation qualifying school in January after admitting he was “haunted” by quitting.
Van Barneveld, whose lucrative exhibition matches have been badly hit by Covid- 19, said: “It’s very simple – I miss it. I miss it terribly. I think the decision to retire was the right one but now I’ve had a lot of time to think about it.
“Because I haven’t been myself for the past two or three years, you don’t always make the right decisions.
“Your head is haunted and you’re a nightmare for everyone. But now I’m looking forward to it.”
