THE lat­est pro­duc­tion from the com­pany be­hind Bird­song is a new play by Tor­ben Betts, mark­ing the 50th an­niver­sary of the launch of the ill- fated Apollo 13 mis­sion.

When three as­tro­nauts lost con­tact with NASA, their strug­gle to re­turn to Earth be­came one of the most com­pelling tales of hu­man sur­vival.

Us­ing tran­scripts of the event, Betts has fash­ioned a tense lock­down play that cap­tures the claus­tro­pho­bia of the sit­u­a­tion and the in­domitabil­ity of the hu­man spirit.

Also set in a pub, Hit­man And Her is a dark thriller about a re­spectable wo­man and a male stranger whose ap­par­ently ac­ci­den­tal li­ai­son con­ceals a sin­is­ter pur­pose.

Com­plet­ing the trio is one- man play The Legacy Of Wil­liam Ire­land, which is based on the true story of an 18th cen­tury fraud­ster who at­tempted to hood­wink Lon­don au­di­ences with a fake “lost” play by Shake­speare.
