APOLLO 13: THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

originaltheatreonline. com

THE latest production from the company behind Birdsong is a new play by Torben Betts, marking the 50th anniversary of the launch of the ill- fated Apollo 13 mission.

When three astronauts lost contact with NASA, their struggle to return to Earth became one of the most compelling tales of human survival.

Using transcripts of the event, Betts has fashioned a tense lockdown play that captures the claustrophobia of the situation and the indomitability of the human spirit.

It stars Tom Chambers ( Jack Swigert), Christopher Harper ( Jim Lovell) and Michael Salami ( Fred Haise), right. Tickets are available for online performances from October 8. THE SHOWS MUST GO ON youtube. com/ theshowsmustgoon

AMONG the latest season of musicals and shows available online every Friday for 48 hours are Michael Ball’s Past & Present Tour – filmed live at the Royal Albert Hall in 2009 ( from October 2), Alfie Boe Live – The Bring Him Home Tour ( from October 9) and Jeff Wayne’s The War Of The Worlds ( from October 16). The shows are free to download but donations to charities are encouraged.

THE CLOCKWORK ARMS/ HITMAN AND HER

osoarts. org. uk/ ondemand THE enterprising OSO Arts Centre has just reopened for business and it’s offering three past productions to download for free. The Clockwork Arms is an intriguing play about a girl

Completing the trio is one- man play The Legacy Of William Ireland, which is based on the true story of an 18th century fraudster who attempted to hoodwink London audiences with a fake “lost” play by Shakespeare.
