STILL NO END TO THE TORMENT FOR HUNDREDS OF OUR BRAVE VETERANS
I, LIKE many others, cheered when at last, after years of empty rhetoric from successive governments, it seemed that this one had got to grips with the problem of protecting our service personnel and that veterans would no longer be maliciously pursued and multiply prosecuted for deeds carried out on active service. Some have suffered as many as eight inquiries,
being acquitted each time but with no line drawn.
Then this week I spoke to a veteran, who shook his head. No, he said, that might apply to those involved in Bloody Sunday but there are a few
hundred not covered by the provisions, including the SAS. Ministerial clarification would be welcome and in unequivocal language, please.
