ONLY Fools And Horses actor John Challis, 78, who memorably portrayed second- hand car dealer Boycie, highlights his latest earnings from another long ago TV appearance.

He sarcastically writes on Twitter: “Yippee! I just got a royalty payment for Heartbeat. NINE pence. Drinks are on me.”

I trust his repeat fees for Only Fools And Horses prove more generous?

INTERVIEWING Craig Revel Horwood, who was sitting in his Hampshire home, BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker noted the often merciless Strictly judge hadn’t wasted the opportunity for a spot of shameless product placement.

“We’re always fascinated by people’s backdrops,” Walker cheekily remarked to his guest. “Be honest with us, over your left shoulder, how long have you spent arranging the books you’ve written up there?’ Craig, 55, laughed: “It’s called self- promoting!”

AWARD- WINNING actor Brian Cox, these days playing ruthless media mogul Logan Roy in acclaimed series Succession, reports on a recent embarrassing clash in a Scottish department store.

Dundee- born Brian, 74, pictured, who was paying a return visit to his home country, complains: “I said, ‘ I must go to the toilet,’ and the woman there goes, ‘ Oh no, toilets close at 5 o’clock.’ I said, ‘ I must pee now! How do you mean? I’ve spent all this money!’”

The said employee refused to budge, advising the celebrity guest to instead use facilities down the road. Cox growls: “I thought, that’s the side of Scotland which just drives you nuts.”

TELLING the story behind his band Peter and Gordon’s 1964 hit A World Without Love, written by Sir Paul McCartney, Peter Asher points out he has the late John Lennon to thank.

With Macca dating his actress sister Jane Asher at the time, Peter approached the Beatle after hearing him play the song. “Paul explained it was unfinished because John didn’t like the opening line, ‘ Please lock me away,’” Peter recalls. “John would stop him and say, ‘ I’ll lock away! The song’s over.”’

Peter and Gordon’s version went on to reach number one in Britain and America.

Dr Janna Goldstein, 26, chained herself to another activist outside a printing works in Broxbourne, Herts, which prevented millions of papers from being delivered, a court heard yesterday.

The action by the Dutch- born Birmingham University postgraduate, who was joined by up to 60 protesters on the night of September 4, cost publishers £ 1.2 million.

She added: “About 1,100 retailers didn’t get any newspapers causing disruption to those businesses. There was a massive financial impact.”

In mitigation Jessica Davies told St Alban’s magistrates’ court that Goldstein “meant no harm” but wanted to raise awareness about the “urgent need to take action on climate change” which she believes “mainstream media is failing the public” by not reporting.

She was given a sixmonth conditional discharge, fined £ 105 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £ 22. The targeted presses print the Rupert Murdoch- owned News Corp titles including The Sun and The Times as well as The Daily Telegraph, the Daily Mail and the London Evening Standard.
